My Story

Date into Rescue: 6/5/21

Reason for being in rescue: owner release

Special Needs: Bert is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. On 6/8/21 he has a dental with 7 extractions. He also had an oronasal fistula repaired. BERT AND MOZART ARE A BONDED PAIR LOOKING FOR A HOME TOGETHER.

What kind of home would be best for me: Bert and his best friend Mozart arrived in rescue when their owner passed away suddenly in a tragic accident. They have been very loved and well cared for and are looking for a quiet home that will offer them the same. First and foremost, Mozart and Bert are a bonded pair. We will not separate them. If you don't have room in your heart for these 2 precious souls, Bert is not your dog. They would be okay with another senior, low energy dog or even a cat. Mozart and Bert want lots of soft beds, plenty of affection and a home that will help them heal their hearts.

What is my personality like: Bert is a small dog bonded to his big best friend Mozart. These two are a package deal and are being adopted together. Bert is a low energy guy who likes to go play or explore for a bit but is usually found sleeping or basking in the sun. When you first meet Bert he opens up pretty quickly and will love you for just letting him use your lap to take his nap.

Bert loves to live in comfort and is more than content if he can have a nice fluffy bed to lay on! He loves to lay on couches or find cozy blankets to cuddle up in! Bert likes to be around people and you’ll find him soon enough coming to lay by your side whenever your doing anything like watch tv.

He could use some work with potty training but routine is his best friend and as long as he regularly is being allowed a chance to use the bathroom outside he’ll usually be clean inside. He’s okay on a leash. Him and Mozart don’t mind if there’s another dog in the home but the other dog(s) need to be lower energy.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Bert's estimated birthday is 6/5/2007

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
