My Story

Date into Rescue: 6/8/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Ozzy's owner passed away and he landed at a SC shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter.

Special Needs: Ozzy is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. On 6/16/21 he had a dental with 4 extractions. He also had his ears professionally cleaned while he was under anesthesia. Our vet noted that Ozzy has untreated bilateral corneal disease which impairs his vision. He also has grade 3 luxating patellas. Given his age, surgery is not recommended for Ozzy's legs. He will need low exercise and a home that will carry him around. Ozzy arrived in rescue with itchy skin. OZZY IS BONDED TO HIS BEST FRIEND CHI CHI. THEY WILL ONLY BE ADOPTED TOGETHER.

What kind of home would be best for me: First and foremost, Ozzy is looking for a retirement home with his best friend Chi Chi. These "brothers" have been together their entire life and will not be separated. If you don't have room in your heart for two quiet, mellow senior boys, Ozzy is not your dog. Ozzy and Chi Chi are great boys. Their needs are simple - a quiet home, plenty of snuggles and warm beds, and soft food. They'd be happy with other dogs or cats, and fine with children over 8.

What is my personality like: Ozzy is a mellow boy who loves people. Ozzy has never met a stranger in his life; everyone is his friend. Ozzy does well with other animals and doesn’t really mind sharing his space with a cat. Ozzy will do fine without a fence. Ozzy comes with his bonded pair Chichi and they are a very calm pair to have. They would do great in any home and wouldn’t mind kids!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Ozzy is estimated at 14 years old based on his overall health and condition. We've estimated his birthday at 6/4/2007.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
