My Story

Date into Rescue: 6/8/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Nikita's owner passed away and she landed at a SC shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled her from the shelter.

Special Needs: Nakita is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. On 6/16/21 she had a major dental with 9 extractions, 1 of which tooth had to be drilled out. She had a professional ear cleaning while under anesthesia. She also had 3 small epidermal cysts removed.

What kind of home would be best for me: Nakita is looking for a home where she can be outside in the sunshine. This girl really enjoys a hot Carolina day! Nakita would like a home where she can enjoy some peace and quiet. At our senior cottage, she is always looking for the quietest spot away from the crowds. She would do well in a home as an only dog or with another dog of similar temperament. A home without small children is recommended since Nakita does not enjoy being handled by people. She prefers to sit by her person or in a comfy bed - don't forget the warm blankies at night!

What is my personality like: Nakita is a confident, calm gal who knows what she enjoys. If she enjoys something, you will see her dance a little or give a little smile. If she isn't interested, then you will see her lips curl in disgust. However, Nakita is not aggressive, she's expressive!

Nakita will allow you to pet her when she is by your side. Since her surgery and masses removed, she really does not like to be picked up. As her recovery has progressed, we have seen the sensitivity in her back decrease, but we think it's who she is.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Timid and shy, she has seen a lot of people and is happy to wait for the right one to come out of her shell and play!

Tips and Tidbits: Nikita's estimated birthday is 5/28/2011

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.

Thank you for considering CPR!
