My Story

Date into Rescue: 6/23/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners

Special Needs: Lulu is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 8/25/2021 she had a dental polishing. Lulu has weakness in her hind legs due to an unknown cause. We have done radiographs and ruled out surgical intervention. She does receive laser treatment which helps. Lulu's forever home understands that she has a disability but it doesn't slow her down. Full medical records will be provided.

What kind of home would be best for me: Lulu is a younger dog with a medical condition that will require ongoing care. She is not for a first time owner. This girl is full of energy, with an edge of attitude. She needs a family that will understand this girl needs consistency, patience, and lots of love. Lulu would be happy with another small dog or as the only dog. Absolutely no big dogs for this girl! Lulu loves cats and would really love a feline to snuggle with. Given Lulu's rear pain and personality she will not be adopted to a home with children and is not recommended for a home that younger children visit regularly.

What is my personality like: Lulu was surrendered to rescue by her owners. She arrived in rescue dragging her back legs due to nerve pain. Her owners had done some limited steroids and laser therapy but were unable to maintain these. What we've found is that sometimes Lulu has good days and sometime she has bad days. On great days she runs happily without abandon. On hard days she drags her rear legs and can be grumpy (we can't blame her). There is nothing surgically that can be done.

Lulu is a very spunky snoodle filled to the brim with personality. Lulu came to CPR being able to partially walk which then turned into her sadly not being able to use her back legs. She was also very overweight. After a strict diet, love and lots of encouragement she can use her back legs again, they may not fully work but she can still run with them! Lulu gets along with other small dogs but absolutely does not like big dogs. She adores cats and will even snuggle with them. Lulu loves people and attention. She always wants to be with people.

Lulu is looking for a home that understands that she'll always walk a little funny and won't be a hiking buddy. She will reward you with the biggest personality and best kisses!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Lulu is estimated at 5 years old. We celebrate her birthday as 10/29/2016

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.

Thank you for considering CPR!
