My Story

Date into Rescue: 7/8/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners

Special Needs: BJ is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. On 7/14/21 he had a dental polishing.

What kind of home would be best for me: BJ is an active, happy dog looking for stability. He's had a lot of change in his life and just wants to be someone's best friend. He'd be happy as the only dog or content living with another dog. He's fine with cats, just watch the litter pan. Children over 8 would be great for this boy. BJ would really love a home where someone is home during the day (work from home, active retiree, etc.).

What is my personality like: Every room BJ goes into he manages to put a smile on everyone’s face. He’s a very happy little man who only wants to be given attention and love (plus treats!). When he first meets someone new there might be a moment of shyness but then he wants to be in their lap! He loves his people and likes to follow them around wherever they go. He’s even convinced himself that he can help ‘clean’ which just means he likes to poke his nose into dustpans. Fetch, hide-the-treat, puzzles, and much more can keep him active and entertained for hours. He likes to figure things out so he would definitely love to have plenty of puzzle games to play with in his home!

BJ likes to be active but his energy is easily spent running around, playing games, or giving him something mentally challenging to do. He wouldn’t mind another dog in the home but it’s not absolutely necessary. He needs a playmate so if he has a family that might be gone for a period of time another dog as company is recommended. He would also be fine with kids in the home (older kids that already know how to respect boundaries with a dog).

BJ is okay to be around cats, but make sure the litter box is not accessible to him (he likes to explore). Overall BJ is a dog with lots of love to give and is pretty open to the type of family that becomes his forever home!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: BJ's estimated birthday is 4/23/2012

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
