My Story

Date into Rescue: 7/8/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Ella was found as a stray in NC and landed at the shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled her from the shelter.

Special Needs: Ella is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. Ella arrived in rescue as a medical mess. She had mammary masses, dental disease, cloudy eyes, and suspected luxating patellas. Our first order of business was removing the mammary tumors. This happened on 7/14/21. Next up was a dental, the same day. Ella lost 13 teeth, 3 of which had to be drilled out. She will require regular dentals for life. Our vet also noted that Ella has cloudy eyes and is vision impaired. A full histopathology was performed on Ella's tumors and a copy will be provided to her family. They do note low grade cancerous cells. The tumors will return.

What kind of home would be best for me: Could be a first time dog owner. Ella wants a home with a spotlight on her. She loves to wiggle, run around and be busy with people. Ella's future home would look like a home for a fairy tail princess pup - fluffy beds, a sparkly collar and leash, squishy blankets to top it all off. Ella does like use her voice and give her opinion. She will quickly have her new people trained for her lifestyle. Ella enjoys regular grass and sun time so a large fenced yard is not needed.

We don't know what Ella's future looks like. We do know at some point her mammary tumors will return. They may be able to be removed again, but ultimately this is a terminal diagnosis. Ella Enchanted is looking for a home where she can live out her princess bucket list!

What is my personality like: Ella is peppy and on the go. She's here, she's there, she's everywhere! Once her busyness is satisfied, Ella settles quickly into being a lovey little girl. Ella wakes up everyday ready to check out the world. She would easily win little miss congeniality in any beauty contest.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Ella will run up and wiggle at new people. Like any tiny dog, she does want to be picked up right away from above. Ella would prefer to get to know you with small talk and once you're seated, she is comfortable to be picked up.

Tips and Tidbits: Ella's estimated birthday is 7/8/2012. This is purely an estimate as Ella was found as a stray.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
