My Story

Date into Rescue: 7/20/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Owner surrender Forsyth

Special Needs: Muppett is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. On 7/14/21 she had oral surgery to repair a fractured bone in her jaw and had 7 teeth extracted. Muppett does have a grade 2 luxating patella in her left knee. Given her age and size, we have elected not to do surgery. She will need low exercise and weight management for the rest of her life.

What kind of home would be best for me: Muppet is looking for a retirement home, she wants to be with her people as much as possible and would love to have another small dog living with her, this is not a requirement. Muppet does request that she gets to sunbathe often. She loves to stretch out in the sun. Muppett needs light exercise. She will make a wonderful lap companion for her lucky family!

What is my personality like: Muppet is an older gal with a young personality! She’s spunky and loves to dance for you! Muppet often tap dances as she waits for her caregivers to open her crate. Speaking of her crate, she loves to have a crate with a big fluffy bed to curl up in. Her favorite thing to do is relax and would love a lap to lay in. Muppet is not an active dog - she’s a literal couch potato.

Muppet came in with a broken jaw, suspected due to a severe mouth infection. She had a large dental during surgery and her jaw was repaired. She has done amazing through recovery, and is her usual spunky self. Muppet has luxating patella, which is a condition where her back legs are out of place. Due to her age, Muppet will not undergo surgery to repair this. She is not in any pain and walks very well. The most important thing to keep her walking well is to keep her at a healthy weight.

Muppet is looking for a retirement home, she wants to be with her people as much as possible and would love to have another small dog living with her, this is not a requirement. Muppet does request that she gets to sunbathe often. She loves to stretch out in the sun. Muppet is a wonderful small dog ready to show her new home that old dogs rock too!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: We celebrate Muppett's birthday as 12/30/2008

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
