My Story

Date into Rescue: 07/23/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners

Special Needs: Sweetie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Sweetie has immature bilateral cateracts. She also has a mature grade 4/6 heart murmur. The murmur is more prominent on the left side of her heart. She has been started on Vetmedin. On 8/9/21 Sweetie had a urinalysis which showed some suspected cocci. She was started on Clavamox for 7 days. On 8/13/21, Sweetie had a dental with 7 extractions. A spay scar was noted by the veterinarian during her dental.

What kind of home would be best for me: Sweetie is a quiet girl, mature girl looking for a quiet home. Her ideal home has someone home during the day (retiree, work from home, or other). She is not interested in living with children at this point in her life; visiting children would be fine as long as they give her time to warm up. She can live with other small dogs, or would be happy as your only dog. Cats are okay too. Sweetie is looking for a home where dogs sleep in the bed and snuggle on the couch. These are non-negotiable for this princess.

What is my personality like: Sweetie has lived her entire life in a quiet home with 2 other toy poodles. She is a quiet girl who really just wants her person. Sweetie is not a dog that will bounce toward you with enthusiasm during first meeting. She is more of a sit back and watch kind of princess. Once she knows you, Sweetie wants to be with you. This girl is a sleep in the bed, watch movies on the couch, go for short walks, Netflix and chill sort of girl.

How do I act when I first meet new people: A little timid at first, but friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Sugar's owners stated she is 11 years old. We celebrate her birthday 07/23/2010.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
