My Story

Date into Rescue: 8/18/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Reggie was surrendered by his owners to a NC shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter.

Special Needs: Reggie is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 8/31/21 Reggie had double entropion surgery. He also had surgery to repair his screw tail. Reggie is on daily eye drops and needs his face and folds cleaned every day to stay bacteria and infection free.

What kind of home would be best for me: Reggie needs an owner experienced with his breed (english bulldog). He has not been well cared for, and his body has paid the price. Reggie is an easy-going boy who is happy in most situations. His breed is heat sensitive so shorter walks are important. Reggie would be happy as the only dog or with another bully in the house. He is fine with cats and would be fine with children.

What is my personality like: Reggie is a very friendly boy who wants to share his whole heart with everyone he meets. He is very friendly, and loves to meet new people. He likes to give out his hugs and get in his kisses. Reggie has gotten along with every dog that he has been tested with at the rescue and he has also gotten along just swell with our residential cat.

Reggie is looking for a home with a family that has a lot of love to share. He likes to go on walks but especially during heated periods can not go far. However he does like to stay and lay on someone’s lap or on the couch. He would do well in many types of homes just so long as he is not expected to physically do a lot.

It should be noted that Reggie does have a medical past. He came into the rescue with issues with his tail and needed to have “screw tail surgery” (he no longer has a tail). He does have to have eye drops every day and he also needs to have the flaps under his eyes wiped everyday. He needs breed experience.

Overall Reggie is a very friendly dog with so much love to give.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Reggie's owners stated he is 9 years old when he was surrendered to the shelter. We celebrate his birthday as 8/18/2012.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
