My Story

Date into Rescue: 9/9/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners

Special Needs: Sampson is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. Sampson is Addisonian and requires daily medication. Sampson also has sebaceous adenitis. This was confirmed via histopath, a copy of which will be provided. He will require regular medicine and regular baths for this hereditary skin condition. On 9/22/21, Sampson had a professional ear cleaning under sedation. SAMPSON IS BONDED TO DARWIN. THEY WILL ONLY BE ADOPTED TO A HOME TOGETHER.

What kind of home would be best for me: First and foremost, Sampson is looking for a home with room in their heart for 2 standard poodles. DARWIN AND SAMPSON ARE BONDED AND WILL ONLY BE ADOPTED TOGETHER. If you don't have room in your heart for 2 big boys, Sampson is not your dog.

Sampson is looking for a home to cherish both boys. They would do fine with another low energy dog in the home, cats, or small dogs. Their ideal home has someone home during the day.

What is my personality like: Sampson and his "brother" Darwin were the beloved pets of a family severely impacted by COVID. When circumstances no longer allowed them to care for their boys, they reached out to rescue for help finding them a home where they will continue to live their days together.

Sampson is a six year old standard poodle with addisons disease. Sampson is on meds to manage his condition. Otherwise Sampson is a healthy middle age poodle. He was well loved in his previous home and knows how to be pet. Sampson enjoys daily walks and would love his own big fenced in yard to romp in with his  best buddy Darwin.

Sampson is very attached to Darwin, and wants to be close to him at all times, he grows frantic without Darwin and is much more confident with his buddy around.

Sampson is a little unsure of himself but once he warms up he loves to be with his person. Sampson will take a few days to adjust to a new home but within no time he will be a bouncy bubbly boy.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Sampson's birthday is 7/12/2015

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
