Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Chihuahua (short coat)
Weight: 7.0 lbs
Height: 12 in
Estimated Birthdate: 9/13/2015
Fence Needed: No
Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Reason for being in rescue: Devon's owner passed away and he landed at the shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter.
Special Needs: Devon is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. On 9/24/21, Devon had a dental and lost 13 teeth, 4 of which had to be drilled out. Devon has a grade 2/6 heart murmur. He also has some hair loss which is resolving with diet and quality care.
What kind of home would be best for me: Could be a first time dog owner. To meet Devon is to fall in love with him. Estimated at 6 years old, he has more of an old soul that just wants a lap. Devon's ideal home has someone home during the day. He needs ongoing quality care and food, and will require regular dentals. Devon will be happy as your only pet, or in a home with other animals. He has a gentle demeanor that would be fine with children over 10.
What is my personality like: Devon is an interesting dog with a unique personality (in a good way of course). Devon came to the rescue from a hoarding situation where he was surrounded by other dogs in the home. He is very skinny and we are working diligently with him to pick up his weight. Despite this he is a very happy going dog whose main mission in life is to just be in a person’s lap.
Devon is sweet and likes to be in a lap where it is warm and safe and can seemingly always find his way to his person’s side even through a crowd of dogs if it means he can get the spotlight. He likes blankets and stuffed toys… specially cuddling his stuffed toys under a blanket. Devon likes other dogs and gets along with everyone he has been tested with at the rescue just fine (although he would be just fine as an only dog with someone who has plenty of for him). He isn’t to picky of an eater at although it should be noted that he likes canned food.
There isn’t any way that you can meet Devon without your heart utterly melting. Everything about him and his personality will win you over in a heart beat. He has a unique way of making any situation calmer and would do well in a home with someone who just want’s a simple companion (a lap dog). Overall Devon is just looking for a home that can give him plenty of love and attention.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly
Tips and Tidbits: Devon is estimated at 6 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 9/13/2015.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
