My Story

Date into Rescue: 10/8/2021

Reason for being in rescue: owner release

Special Needs: Elvis is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Elvis will be neutered and have a dental on 10/19/2021. He will be ready for his forever home on 10/23/2021.

What kind of home would be best for me: Elvis is a young, active dog who is looking for a family. His life was very quiet before rescue. Elvis longs for a person, and is looking for a home where someone is home during the day. He is well suited for a home with a confident female companion dog; he will not be placed with another male dog or with small dogs. Elvis has lived with cats and loves them. Elvis needs lots of physical and mental exercise. He'd benefit from positive reinforcement training. Elvis would make a great walking and hiking companion. He'd also love to be your travel buddy. We believe our Director lives with Elvis's mother. She will be prepared to tell you all about this bloodline.

What is my personality like: Elvis is a sweet dog who we are still learning more about as he gets accustomed to being at the rescue. He grew up and lived with a family for five years before life circumstances brought him to us. What we know so far is that Elvis was really bonded to his previous home and is now trying to figure out the world without them. He is showing the all to familiar signs of anxiety from being away from them. However he will slightly calm down when comforted by our caregivers.

Our caregivers have noted that Elvis likes to be petted and loved on and that this helps him tremendously (although he still acts anxious which of course is to be expected). So far our experience has been that he waits to go outside to use the bathroom. Elvis is a young, strong, active dog and will need a home that can provide plenty of physical (as well as mental) stimulation. It should be noted that Elvis did live with a cat in his previous home and got along just fine with his feline friend. Overall we are still learning about Elvis but we feel it safe to say that with enough time and love he will give his whole heart to his new family. He is just looking for a home to understand him and love him.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Elvis is estimated at 5 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 10/8/2016.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
