My Story

Date into Rescue: 10/19/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners

Special Needs: Ellie is spayed (including repairing a hernia), up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. ELLIE IS HALF OF A BONDED PAIR. SHE AND SULLY WILL ONLY BE ADOPTED TO A HOME TOGETHER.

What kind of home would be best for me: Ellie is half of a bonded pair with her "brother" Sully. They have been together their entire lives and will only be adopted to a home together. Ellie is a young, active dog that needs lots of physical exercise. Sully and Ellie need a home where they will be the only dogs. No cats, please. They need an active family that is committed to the physical and mental exercise these pups need every day. No couch potatoes here!

What is my personality like: Ellie and her "brother" Sully have always been together. We are their third stop and are committed to finding their perfect forever. Sully and Ellie were purchased from a breeder by a family that decided they didn't want them. At 1 year old they were rehomed into a home where there was a large pack of large dogs. It was too many dogs and too much energy. Sadly Sully started growling at one of the labs in the home, so the owners decided to rehome the pair before something escalated and they had an issue. So here Sully & Ellie are. The only thing better than 1 parti poodle is 2!

Ellie is much like her other bonded pair half Sully. She is inquisitive and intelligent. She’s hesitant with people but learning that people can mean really great things pretty fast (the right treat will always do the trick). Ellie is just as active as her counter part and needs plenty of room to have physical exercise along with someone who can stimulate her brain as well. Ellie has a heart of gold that she wants to share with just the right family! She can be playful and likes to have Sully around to run and jump around with in our fields. She is clean in her crate, likes to eat most things (she isn’t that picky), but she can use some work on a leash (she’ll get there after she learns to be more confident and trust more!). Just like Sully she also leans on him for cues on what to do next in social situations as well as situations like going to bed. She relies on having him around to help her navigate the world.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Timid, but warms up quickly with treats

Tips and Tidbits: Ellie's estimated birthday is 3/19/2019

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
