My Story

Date into Rescue: 10/21/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Found as a stray

Special Needs: Fang is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. Fang arrived in rescue with poor skin and hair loss from neglect. He has responded very well to clean living conditions, weekly baths and good food.

What kind of home would be best for me: We are seeking a home with an experienced dog owner and someone who is home more than they're away.

What is my personality like: Fang is a project dog that is going to need patience and time. When he first came into rescue he was really nervous and somewhat afraid. This was understandable because Fang was found in a wire crate by a trucker who brought him into the rescue. He didn’t want to do much with people at all but after some time he’s learned that people are okay and now he expects his caregivers to pick him up and love on him.

Fang is an active dog that is going to need plenty of physical stimulation. He’s also very intelligent and food motivated so he would do well training which is good because he could use some training. Fang is looking for a home that understands that we expect that Fang might become a little shut down when moving into a home at first. He needs a home to help him open up and become the best dog that he can be. He does well with other dogs and seems to like having the companionship around him. Fang does not like going into a crate and needs work on leash. We do not think Fang would be suitable for apartment life.

Overall Fang is one of the sweetest dogs you can find. It just takes time for him to open up and show you his best self. He is looking for a dog experienced him that has dealt with challenging dogs before (on a behavior level).

How do I act when I first meet new people: Cautious, but very food motivated.

Tips and Tidbits: Fang was found as a stray. We have no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 2 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 10/21/2019.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
