My Story

Date into Rescue: 11/12/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Devon was found as a stray with his sister Star. They landed at a shelter and were rescued by Carolina Poodle Rescue.

Special Needs: Devon is missing one of his front legs. He was hit by a car as a younger dog and the leg could not be salvaged. It does not slow him down at all! Devon will be neutered 11/30/2021. He is up to date on all vaccines and heartworm negative.

What kind of home would be best for me: Devon and Star are a bonded pair (they are litter mates). First and foremost, they are looking for a home together. This is non-negotiable. This beautiful pair want to be the only pets in the home. Devon will growl at and chase cats. They are great with new people, great with kids over 6, and great with each other. They get along well with other dogs, but really prefer to be the only dogs in your home.

What is my personality like: Devon and Star have been very loved. They are well socialized, well mannered, and generally very easy dogs. They are house trained and crate trained and walk well on a leash. They adjust well to new environments and are eager to meet new people. They sleep happily in a crate at night, or on a dog bed in the room, or even in your bed. These wonderful babies love each other and love people!

We are looking for a home where Devon and Star will be the beloved companion of a family. These pups will go on an adventure if they can find a hole in a fence. Their forever home must have room in their heart for both, a strong history of pet ownership and keeping their pets safe, and all the room for snuggles.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: We know that Devon is 5 (though his shelter paperwork will state an estimate of 4). We celebrate his birthday as 11/12/2016.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
