My Story

Date into Rescue: 12/1/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Surrendered by breeder to rescue

Special Needs: Chong is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. On 12/8/2021 he had a dental and lost 19 teeth. Proper dental care will be required for the rest of his life. Our veterinary did note that Chong has early (grade 1/11) luxating patellas in his rear legs.

What kind of home would be best for me:  Chong has lived his entire 5-year life as a breeding dog. He has never been a pet and needs to learn what this means. We are looking for a home that has experience rescuing, ideally with either very shy or breeder dogs. Chong requires another confident dog in the home to learn from. He is not suited for a home with young children or lots of visitors. Chong needs patience and consistency and understanding that you will teach him everything. Every experience will be new!

What is my personality like: Chong is a dog that is learning that people are okay. Chong can be shy and nervous and needs a home that understands that he needs to be shown plenty of patience and love for him to become comfortable with them. This is not your lap dog. Chong tends to be a barker when he is trying to communicate what he wants so he isn’t ideal for apartments. With this being said Chong is comfortable around other dogs and loves being around them. He seems to prefer females but can get along with other males as well. He really loves to hang around his ‘girlfriends’ and lounge around on comfy beds with them.

Chong really needs to have another dog in the home because another dog helps mellow him out and assure him everything is okay. We have also found Chong thrives on routine and we are looking for a home that is going to give him structure to his daily life. Chong is an amazing dog and just needs a home that is going to help him grow into himself.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Shy and nervous

Tips and Tidbits: Chong's birthday is 4/19/2016

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
