Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat)
Weight: 13 lb
Height: 12 in
Estimated Birthdate: 3/1/2021
Fence Needed: Yes. Prinkles is a flight risk. This will not change until she grows more accustomed to her people. She will need a secure and safe space to play and potty.
Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Reason for being in rescue: owner release/too many dogs and they recognized it
Special Needs: Very shy, flight risk. Prinkles is a project dog. She needs experience, patience and someone with the ability to reshape her behavior and teach her the world is not a scary place.
What kind of home would be best for me: Prinkles needs an experienced home that can provide a calm and low traffic environment. She takes a long time to open up to new people and will need a very patient family. Prinkles also needs a home with another confident, stable dog to help show her the nuances of living and loving humans. She has never been hurt or mistreated but she was one of 26 - and she got lost in the shuffle.
What is my personality like: Prinkles can be very loving and affectionate but it takes time for her to get to that point with new people. She can very shy and skittish when you first meet her but after she warms up to you she will be your best friend! Prinkles can’t be picked up when she first meets someone. It takes a lot of time and trust building for her to get that point. She will also need a lot of work being able to be leashed (due to lack of experience with a leash). Prinkles is easily frightened by sudden and loud noises, new people, and sometimes even new objects. She will need a very patient and loving home to help build up her confidence!
How do I act when I first meet new people: Very shy - Prinkles will not show her true personality here. It will take someone with patience to let her blossom slowly into her best self. We've placed enough of her relatives now to know it will happen. But it will take a very special person to make it happen.
Tips and Tidbits: 4/1/2021 is her estimated birthdate. Prinkles is good with cats and doesn’t interact with them much. Prinkles is a terrier poodle mix. She is low shed but not no shed and I do not consider her hypoallergenic.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
