My Story

Date into Rescue: 1/27/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners

Special Needs: Bailey is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and heartworm negative. Bailey has a grade 4/6 heart murmur. He is not currently on any medication for this. He also has early bilateral cataract development. In March, Bailey had a tumor removed from his stomach.  Histopath results were inconclusive.  The vets have recommended a hydrolyzed protein diet and possibly prednisone.  There are also more tests that could be done but at his age, we felt like he had had enough prodding and poking and let it be.  Bailey continues to be a delight to us despite having an unknown future.  Every day is a gift.

What kind of home would be best for me: Bailey was raised in a home where he was the only baby, until human babies came along. He did not appreciate the tugs and pulls of little hands and so ended up in rescue to find a more calm environment. Though Bailey had never lived with other pets before arriving at rescue, he has adjusted fine. His ideal home is as the only pet, or with another quiet dog. Bailey does not want to live with children and we respect this. He has never been around cats. Bailey is a lap baby looking for a lap. His ideal home has someone home during the day for all the cuddles and humans looking for a snuggling bed partner at night.

What is my personality like: Bailey is loving and sweet. He’s very affectionate and could melt your soul with his eyes. He could benefit from a diet and exercise. Bailey is all about people and  although he’s fine with coexisting with other dogs he’s not a playful boy. He prefers to be wrapped up in his favorite human’s arms and watch a movie with them on the couch.

Bailey is not a picky eater and is food motivated. One great way we give him a treat without letting him over eat is by giving him lick mats. Once or twice a day he enjoys plain yogurt or peanut butter frozen on his lick mats and they are a big hit!

Bailey is a loving, calm guy. He is easygoing and a very friendly dog. Bailey enjoys sunbathing and napping! He is moderately active and will play with other doggy friends. Once he is worn out he will go and take a long, much needed nap. Bailey enjoys fuzzy beds, and nice blankets. He is very food motivated and will do anything for a treat. Feed time is his favorite time of day!! Bailey does very well in a crate though he gets a bit anxious in tight crates, He does perfectly fine in a large one though. Other than that he is very clean in his crate.

Overall Bailey is a very calm and laid back guy who is looking for his forever home with endless treats!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Bailey is very friendly and loves to be in someone’s lap!

Tips and Tidbits: Bailey’s estimated birthday is 1/27/2010

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
