My Story

Date into Rescue: 1/27/2022

Reason for being in rescue: breeder release

Special Needs: Ontario is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. He arrived in rescue with bilateral lower lid entropion mucoid exudate which has been surgically repaired. On 2/2/22, Ontario had a dental polishing and a deep ear cleaning.

What kind of home would be best for me: Ontario arrived in rescue as one of 56 dogs seized in a hoarding case. He is very comfortable with other dogs, and still learning that humans can be trusted. Ontario requires an experienced, patient home that has another dog for him to learn from. Everything you teach him will be new.

What is my personality like: Ontario is a very sweet and loving dog although he can be shy at first. He comes around very fast around people. He loves to give hugs and play with people all the time! He also really enjoys companionship of other dogs. He can be very enthusiastic during playtime and during his downtime he likes to have chew toys to keep him occupied.

He needs a lot of work with being on leash and other basic skills. He would really benefit from attending a basic training program.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Shy but warms up fast.

Tips and Tidbits: Ontario is estimated as 2 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 01/26/2020. Ontario has been fine with our residential cat.

House trained: Ontario was a stud dog for his whole short life.  He will definitely need help in the house training department.  A belly band is highly recommended.

Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
