My Story

Date into Rescue: 2/1/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Shaggy was found as a stray in SC and landed at a local shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter.

Special Needs: Shaggy is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and neutered. He is on a hypoallergenic diet due to severe food allergies. No special treats for this boy. Shaggy is not hypoallergenic and may shed.

What kind of home would be best for me: Shaggy is looking for a home that has enough space for him to run out all of his energy. He needs plenty of physical exercise daily and would do great if he had another large dog that could help him get that energy out. He can NOT be placed with smaller dogs or cats. He has too much energy and easily can become overwhelming for them. Shaggy would make an awesome running and hiking buddy. This boy is no couch potato! Shaggy is not hypoallergenic and may shed.

What is my personality like:  Shaggy is a young active doodle, loves other high energy dogs, and is an overall happy boy! He’s so sweet and affectionate. Shaggy has a lot of energy and needs a lot of physical exercise daily. He also needs to have his mind worked and would do very well with any type of clicker training. Trick training is something he would love to do that way he really gets to use his brain and show off what he is capable of - as long as the treats are hypoallergenic to support his diet.

Shaggy also loves to play with other dogs but can be very high energy and needs the other dog to be able to keep up with him. This gregarious, active boy has so much love to give!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly and happy

Tips and Tidbits: Shaggy was found as a stray so we have no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 2 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 1/24/2020.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
