My Story

Date into Rescue: 2/6/2022

Reason for being in rescue: owner release

Special Needs: Kenyon is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. Kenyon has a grade 2/6 heart murmur. He is not on medicine at this time for this. Kenyon arrived in rescue a dehydrated, sick dog. Thankfully he responded well to medicine and fluids and time. In March 2022, Kenyon was finally well enough to have a much needed dental. Amazingly he did not lose any teeth. Kenyon has had numerous rounds of blood work. He has chronic kidney disease and a guarded prognosis. Kenyon is looking for a hospice home to live out whatever days, weeks or months he has.

What kind of home would be best for me: Kenyon is a mature gentleman looking for his retirement home. His asks are pretty simple - he prefers to be the only dog, he really wants a porch or fenced yard for sunbathing, and he wants a lap to sit in. Kenyon lives with other dogs at our rescue. He is indifferent to cats. He is an easy-going gentleman well suited for retirees looking for a lap prince. Kenyon is in kidney failure. We do not know how much time he has.

What is my personality like: Kenyon was found as a stray in NC. Caring citizens took him in and tried to find his owners. When no one came forward, they reached out to rescue for help. They knew that Kenyon needed medical attention that they could not provide. Thanks to generous donors, Kenyon received medical attention and is now ready for his forever home.

Kenyon is a older guy with a lot of life left in him. He needs a low traffic home with a calm environment. He is a very curious guy who loves to wander. He enjoys many walks outside and sometimes gets ahead of himself. He will wear himself out and then take a long, relaxing nap!

Kenyon enjoys plush beds and blankets. He will need some help getting onto furniture and up steps but other than that he doesn't let anything stop him. He wants to be where you are and cannot wait to snuggle in a lap. Kenyon does fine with other dogs but may be better as a only dog. He is a bit picky with his food, he eats freshpet here!

Kenyon is looking for a home with plenty of outside time and even more naps!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Kenyon was found as a stray so we have no background on him. Based on his overall condition, he has been estimated at 10 years old. This is purely a guess. We celebrate his birthday as 01/01/2012.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
