My Story

Date into Rescue: 12/3/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Brownie was turned in to a local shelter with no reason given - so often the plight of senior dogs and it is heart breaking.

Special Needs:  Brownie is a sexy senior.  Her eyes are a bit cloudy with age and her ears don't always pick up as much as they did (except the can opener, she can hear that) but her heart is still young and strong.  Bloodwork is good for a lady of a certain age.  We've removed a couple of old age lumps and bumps and cleaned her teeth - so we're hoping she's good to go for a bit.

What kind of home would be best for me: Sweet Brownie would like a soft spot by the fire, gentle walks in the rain and to binge watch shows with you. She is retired and loving it and would love to find someone to share her retirement with.

What is my personality like: Brownie is an older gal with a lot of life and love to give. She needs a lower traffic and calm environment to retire to, one committed to spoiling her. She enjoys plush beds, adventurous walks, and sunbathing. With her age, her legs get a little stiff, but this doesn't slow her, she can get up steps but will need assistance onto any furniture. On walks she picks up the speed following her nose on whatever smell she catch. You can tell walks are her happy place, she will begin to do little hops and skips. She walks very nicely on a leash and listens to direction well. Enjoys car rides and all the finer things in life. Not a picky eater.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Brownie can be startled easily with people (we think it's the hearing thing) but once she knows your a friend she will be your best friend. She’s becomes very lively when someone will take her on a walk.

Tips and Tidbits: Brownie’s birthday is 12/3/2009. She is good with small dogs and big dogs alike. Cats are also fine in Brownie’s opinion. She is not playful with other animals and would like a lower energy dog that can respect her boundaries or to be an only dog who gets all the love and attention!

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
