My Story

Date into Rescue: 2/19/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners

Special Needs: Buddy is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and heartworm negative. Buddy's pre-rescue vet records indicate he has a history of seizures when being groomed. A full copy of these records will be provided. In February of 2022 Buddy had a dental polishing and a mass removed from his tonsil. A hystiopath was conducted (a copy will be provided) and our vet has a guarded positive prognosis for Buddy. He will need annual dentals to make sure his teeth stay in good condition. We know there are 2 teeth that need to be removed in the next 6-12 months. Buddy is vision impaired. He also has a history of anal gland infections and ear infections.

What kind of home would be best for me: Buddy is a quiet older dog looking for a quiet home. It could include other dogs or not. It could involve cats or not. Buddy would be fine in either. The main requirement is snuggly beds and soft food. Buddy is ideal for a couple looking to give a senior dog his retirement home!

What is my personality like: Buddy's owners passed away. Family members tried to make it work, but had very large dogs in the home that were not good with small dogs. In Buddy's best interest he was surrendered to rescue to find the perfect forever home.

Buddy is fairly independent but does enjoy the companion of both humans and other dogs! Buddy is older so you'll find him sleeping more often than not. Buddy would be suitable for cats as well as other dogs but this is not required. He has always lived in a pack, but will be happy as the only pet. Ultimately, Buddy is looking for a retirement home.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Buddy is friendly and happy to meet people!

Tips and Tidbits: Buddy's owners stated he is 13 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 11/19/2008.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
