My Story

Date into Rescue: 2/24/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Hamilton came to us from another rescue. The rescue saw him being set out by a car that then took off, leaving the poodle behind.  Now that we know him we know he has behavior challenges - but I sure wish they would have called us instead of ridding themselves of Hamilton in this way.

Special Needs: Hamilton is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative.

What kind of home would be best for me: Hamilton can be a handful and a challenge.  He is quirky, opinionated and demanding.  He also has a sweet, sweet side once he opens up and trust.  Hamilton needs a home that understands that he will need patience and training.  He would thrive in a home that believes strongly in positive reinforcement and in Nothing in Life Is Free training.  Hamilton needs to work for a living and he will appreciate what comes to him more!

What is my personality like: Hamilton is an independent boy who needs his boundaries respected and established immediately when going into his new home. He thrives best when given a structured routine to his day so that he knows what is going to happen daily. He can be a very sweet and loving boy given the opportunity for success! He does not like being unexpectedly picked up or having something taken away from him. He would benefit a lot with basic and then advanced obedience work. Hamilton absolutely loves toys and loves to play with toys.

Hamilton needs positive training and as many positive socialization experiences he can get to become the best version of himself! He has so much potential but he will be a lot of work! He will need just the right home that can show him the balance of love, patience, training, and more that will be essential in his life!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Hamilton can be a little cautious meeting new people and won’t want to be picked up immediately. He loves treats and that would be a great place to start on your journey to win his heart over!

Tips and Tidbits: 2/24/2019 is his estimated birthday. Hamilton currently lives with other dogs but isn’t that interested in them. He would be fine to have all the attention in the home. He has met our residential cat and paid little attention to her.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
