My Story

Date into Rescue: 3/21/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Surrendered by owners

Special Needs: Tank is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and heartworm negative. Tank is not hypoallergenic and does shed.

What kind of home would be best for me: Tank was living on a long line outside before he entered rescue with us. He will need a family that can help he navigate living in a home again. He wants a home that does NOT have cats as he will give chase to one. He also can be too much energy for a young child. Tank does great with other dogs his size and would welcome another large, playful companion. Another dog in the home is not a requirement. Tank is not hypoallergenic and does shed.

What is my personality like: There are not enough positive things in the world to say about Tank. He is a very affectionate and sweet. He loves to learn new things and has taken strongly to clicker training here at the farm. He is highly food motivated but does prefer dehydrated meats over most other things we have offered to him. Tank has a great attention span!

There are, however, things Tank can be nervous about that can make him more reserved. Cars, for example, seem to make him more skittish and he will stop walking on the leash until you sit with him for several minutes. Our experience is that he generally walks well on a leash unless there is something that either makes him nervous or excited. He can easily get excited by seeing other dogs which may be due to lack of socialization with others.

Tank does great around other dogs around his size but small animals in general (dogs and cats) cause him to try and chase. Tank very much so wants to be included in his forever family and is ready to go on adventures with them!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Depending on the situation Tank’s reactions can vary. In calm environments he does fantastic greeting new people. It’s when he’s frightened that he will be more reserved. We have learned that cars seem to be where he mostly gets nervous.

Tips and Tidbits: 4/21/2021 is his estimated birthday.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
