My Story

Date into Rescue: 3/24/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Surrendered by breeder

Special Needs: Lemmy is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and neutered. On 3/24/22 Lemmy had a dental with 2 extractions.

What kind of home would be best for me: Lemmy is seeking a home where he can really put his hound nose to use! He loves to get outside and explore and would love to have a yard of his own to do so. He gets along great with other dogs but can sometimes be moody when it comes to his food, so he will need to eat in a crate or other safe space. Lemmy is friendly toward cats.

What is my personality like: Lemmy's life revolves around his nose and food! He is highly food motivated and can be found seeking out another meal often. He, however, does love to play around with other canine friends. He can be a wonderful playmate to another dog. He can also be the perfect cuddle buddy! Lemmy is like a sponge and will absorb any amount of attention his people offer him. He is okay on a leash but will pull sometimes when he is trying to go toward something. He is clean in his crate and also loves having the space! We would suggest having a crate in the home where the door is left open so he always has his own safe space to retreat back into for his daily naps!

Lemmy would love to be in a home where he gets to have his own fenced in area. He really likes to put that hound nose to work! He often is found in his yard here at the rescue sniffing everything new he can find.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Lemmy is friendly when you meet him but sometimes he does take a few minutes to warm up. He needs to explore the room first before he gets to know the people in the room!

Tips and Tidbits: We were told that Lemmy is 5.5 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 6/16/2016.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
