Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Poodle (Standard) (long coat)
Weight: 73 lbs
Height: 24 in
Estimated Birthdate: 3/26/2009
Fence Needed: No
Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners
Special Needs: Stephan is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and heartworm negative. Stephan is overweight so food does need to be carefully managed. On 5/4/22 Stephan had a dental polishing and had a small fatty mass removed from his left thorax. Stephan does have bilateral vision impairment, but gets around very well.
What kind of home would be best for me: Stephan is looking for a home to settle into and relax. He is fairly low energy with occasional spurts of energy. He still would like to able to go on walks around the block and little adventures here and there. Stephan does wonderful with other dogs but he isn't that interested in playing. He would be well suited for another lower energy dog in the home or he could easily be an only dog with a family that is home more than they are away.
Stephan has lived in a home before. There are skills we assume he will take over with him into his forever home like potty training. He also does great with the basic behaviors like sit and more importantly, stay. He does great with other dogs and he does fantastic around cats.
What is my personality like: Stephan is a wonderful companion! He is a lower energy kind of dog but for his age can still be pretty active. He likes to explore and will happily tag along for adventures! He walks well on a leash but does like to go ahead of his person (but he isn't pulling at the leash). Stephan is clean in his crate. He did previously live in a home and would more than likely carry on the potty training skills he obtained from that experience. Stephan knows sit, stay, lie down, drop it, come, shake, and “go potty.” He knows how to use the dog door and does very well on the leash as well as in the car.
Stephan is a sweet, well-mannered, and affectionate standard poodle. He really loves humans and just wants to be with his people. He’s a calm, loving boy who is happiest curled up on the couch or in your lap.
Stephan gets along with other dogs wonderfully. His calm demeanor makes for great companionship with most of the dogs he meets here at the rescue.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Stephan is very friendly. He loves to meet anyone that wants to spend time with him and give him attention. He also will also try and trick new people into feeding him treats!
Tips and Tidbits: 3/26/2022 is his estimated birthday.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
