What kind of home would be best for me: We are seeking a home with an experienced dog owner and someone who is home more than they're away. Izzy is more reserved and will take time to open up. She will need a patient home that is willing to work with her and show her that people are okay. Izzy requires another dog in the home to learn from. She is good with dogs of all sizes. Izzy is indifferent to cats.
What is my personality like: Izzy is a retired breeding dog. She has never lived as a pet or companion and has low socialization. Every experience for Izzy is new and it shows. She has a gentle demeanor, but needs to learn what it means to be a pet. Everything that you teach her will be new.
Izzy is more reserved at first. She takes time to warm up to her people. She is always observing and learning about her environment. As she plays with the other dogs around her she takes notes constantly about what her people are doing as they walk around. After some time goes by she will work up more and more courage and venture closer to her people. That gap between her and her human will slowly regress until you eventually start to see a whole other side of Izzy. Eventually she will starts wagging her tail when you enter the room. Then she starts walking forward sniffing you. At some point she will become comfortable enough for her people to start petting and loving on her. She is the type of girl who will simply take time to adjust on her own terms.
Izzy can walk on a leash, however, she will need to bond to her person before she walks good on a leash. At the moment when she feels nervous she will stay in a standstill position and need a lot of coaxing to move. This will fade out when she becomes more acclimated to her family. She is clean in her crate and would love for one to be in her home. She does very well with routine and consistency. Overall Izzy is looking for a home to call her own and for a family that will love her unconditionally.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Izzy takes time in the home to warm up. At first she will be very shy and hesitant.
Tips and Tidbits: Izzy is estimated at 8 years old. We celebrate her birthday as 3/11/2014.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
