My Story

Date into Rescue: 4/7/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Reuger was found as a stray by a staff member. Though his owners were found, they were unable to keep him and surrendered him to rescue.

Special Needs: Reuger is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative.

What kind of home would be best for me: Reuger needs an experienced owner that is committed to giving this high energy boy plenty of positive opportunities to get his energy out. Due to his size and exuberance, he will do best in an adult only home. Reuger plays well with the large dogs in his kennel area and would love a playful dog in the home to pal around with. Reuger will not be placed in a home with cats. We do not recommend a home with small dogs given his energy and enthusiasm for games of chase. Reuger brings the kind of energy a trail runner or hiker would appreciate. Agility would also be a good physical outlet for this bully boy.

What is my personality like: Reuger was found chasing a butterfly on the side of a busy highway. Oblivious to the dangers of cars, and happy to go for a ride, he just wanted to have fun. Though Reuger is microchipped and his owners were contacted, they never came to get their boy and he was surrendered to rescue.

The best way to describe Reguer is high energy. Friendly. Playful. Did we mention high energy! Reuger is super sweet and ready to GO! This bright boy will need his intelligent brain exercised regularly, along with his growing body. Even with all of this energy, Reuger is eager for belly rubs and cuddles, too. Reuger has done well with crate training, especially when given frequent potty breaks before bedtime. He will pull on a leash, but is working hard on leash manners. Reuger had likely never been on a leash before arriving in rescue.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Reuger is estimated under a year old. We celebrate his birthday as 08/07/2021.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
