My Story

Date into Rescue: 4/15/2022

Reason for being in rescue: breeder release

Special Needs: Dixie O is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.

What kind of home would be best for me: Dixie is a retired breeding dog who has known little about being a pet or a companion. Most experiences will be new for her. Though shy upon first meeting, Dixie is a gentle giant with a heart of gold. She absolutely loves other dogs and, while not required, would really prefer a home with another canine in it. Dixie is lower energy, preferring strolls to runs and sunbathing to sprints. She would be great with gentle children over 8.

What is my personality like: Dixie is a shy but oh so sweet and gentle girl. She likes to take things slow and enjoy the journey of life, maybe even stop to smell the roses. Dixie has many friends here at the farm and would enjoy doggy daycare or some type of socialization. The only time you will ever see Dixie run is when she knows she’s going to see her friends! Dixie would even do well in a home with a sibling but it is not required.

This fur baby is not to fond of warm weather as she has a thick coat. She prefers to spend the warmer days relaxing in the air conditioning. Dixie will need regular baths and deshedding. She is crate trained and she often seeks solace in her crate so it is recommended she have one in the home or a designated place she can call her own. Dixie does well on a leash with minimal pulling and would do well with basic training.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Shy but curious

Tips and Tidbits: Dixie O's birthday is 6/26/2016

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
