My Story

Date into Rescue: 4/19/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Ellie and Lucy were transferred to Carolina Poodle Rescue from another rescue.

Special Needs: Ellie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Please note that while we don't have any documentation of Ellie's spay, she does have a spay scar. On May 3, 2022, Ellie was evaluated by our vet for megaesophagus. Ellie's barium swallow confirms mild esophageal dilation and impaired esophageal motility. Her esophagus is not nearly as bad as the majority of megaeosphagus cases but is likely to require treatment for the rest of her life. It has the potential for getting much worse than it currently is. We recommend continuing to feed her in a Bailey chair. Food should be wet food that is easy to swallow. Ellie is currently being treated for aspiration pneumonia. This is common in megaesophagus dogs. ELLIE IS BONDED TO LUCY. WE WILL ONLY CONSIDER A HOME WITH ROOM IN THEIR HEART FOR BOTH PRECIOUS GIRLS.

What kind of home would be best for me: First and foremost, Ellie is looking for a home with room in their heart for 2 dogs. Ellie and her best friend Lucy are bonded and will only be adopted together. If you don't want to adopt 2 dogs, Ellie is not your dog. Second, we are looking for a home with a heart for dogs with special needs. Ellie is a wonderful girl who eats in a special chair and is prone to medical challenges. Her forever family will understand this. Ellie & Lucy could be the only dogs in your home or live with other dogs. They have demeanors well suited to children over 10.

What is my personality like: Ellie is a sweet loving girl who enjoys all the company she can get. She loves her people and enjoys spending time with them. Ellie does have a sister Lucy which she is bonded to and loves her very much. She loves affection and will play around in the yard with you.

Ellie enjoys big plush beds and blankets. She is a big fan of treats and will do anything for one! She also is a fan of chewing bones. Ellie is very clean in her crate and gets along well with other dogs. She is your average love bug ! Ellie will climb in your lap when she wants attention. Overall Ellie is just looking for a home with lots of love to give!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Ellie is estimated at 3 years old. We celebrate her birthday as 4/19/2019.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
