My Story

Date into Rescue: 4/22/2022

Reason for being in rescue: found as a stray - with a collar deeply embedded in his neck

Special Needs:  Harley was found with a collar embedded in his neck - it was removed and the scars are healing but he is still very shy of anything around his neck.  Please note our shelter partner originally aged Harley at about 8.  Now that we have gotten to know him, I think he is much younger, probably closer to 3 or 4.  We have listed him now as 4.  Please note as always with stray dogs, this is just a guess.  He could be much older or much younger - and he's not telling!

What kind of home would be best for me:  One who knows that dogs need to be part of just about everything in your life.  Harley needs an experienced owner who is willing to work with a guy who gets a little bit worked up about things.  Not in a mean way, no way. But he does get hyper.  He would thrive with some basic obedience work and a calm and centered human family who knows how to keep things on an even keep while still letting a puppy dog get his energy out.

What is my personality like: Harley is a very energetic and playful boy who loves his humans. He has had a difficult past but you would never know by looking at him. He is always very curious about his surroundings and loves to meet new people. He may show nervousness when first meeting a stranger, but quickly enough he will be jumping in your lap for snuggles and kisses. He is very food motivated and loves to learn new tricks. He walks fairly well on a leash but when something catches his interest, he does tend to pull; this can easily be corrected with time, patience, and consistency. He is very well crate trained and knows a few basic commands. He loves to run and chase things but knows when it is time to settle down. For some dogs, he can be a bit much and for others he is their newest BFF.

Harley is a very sweet boy who is looking for a home that can give him consistency and one that can constantly work with him. He also needs a home where he can be very active and run his heart out. He does not have to have another dog in the home but will definitely need somebody or something to help exert his energy

How do I act when I first meet new people: Sweet and ready to play.  Bring treats please!

Tips and Tidbits: Estimated birthdate is 4/13/2018. No cats - he thinks cats are for barking at!

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
