Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Poodle (Standard) (long coat)
Weight: 42 lbs
Height: 20 in
Estimated Birthdate: 5/13/2018
Fence Needed: Yes
Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Reason for being in rescue: Shamrock was surrendered to a NC shelter by his owners. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter.
Special Needs: Shamrock is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative
What kind of home would be best for me: Shamrock would love a home that has another
large dog that he can play with. He enjoys playing with people, too, and would be fine as an
only but would definitely thrive with a confident dog friend. He is good with dogs of all sizes and indifferent to cats. Shamrock is food motivated and would be highly motivated to perfect his obedience tricks and loose leash walking.
What is my personality like: We don't know a lot about Shamrock's life before arriving in rescue. We know that he lived in a home. We know that his owner had health challenges and struggled caring for themselves, much less their dog. Based on our experiences so far, our best guess is that socialization and training during his first few years was minimal.
Happy-go-lucky best describes Shamrock when he gets comfortable in his environment. He does well with large dogs. Shamrock can be reserved when he first meets you but he opens up and becomes friendly and sweetly vocal - he’s a sweet talker! He does enjoy the comfort of a crate and will seek it out when he’s tired. Shamrock loves to cuddle up to his people.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Reserved but friendly
Tips and Tidbits: Shamrock is estimated at 4 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 5/13/2018.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
