My Story

Date into Rescue: 05/10/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Surrendered by owners

Special Needs: Remy is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.

What kind of home would be best for me: Remy is a young, active dog looking for an active home. He requires a home with another active dog that wants to play. Remy is indifferent to cats. Remy would love a home where someone is home during the day (work from home, etc.) but it isn't a requirement. He does require a home where dogs are allowed to sit on the couch and sleep in the bed to snuggle. Remy needs an experienced owner that understands his past and will offer him the time and patience to settle into a new environment and blossom.

What is my personality like: Remy arrived in rescue a mess. He had been living in a crate in a garage for 20+ hours a day. He hadn't been groomed in months, with skin matted to the bone and nails curling into the pads of his feet. He was rightfully afraid of new people and new surroundings and skeptical of everyone and everything. As Remy decompressed and settled into his foster home, his full personality really began to emerge.

Under the dirty hair and long nails was a beautiful boy so ready to share his heart. Remy is a happy-go-lucky boy whose exuberance for life is contagious. When he bonds to you, he bonds hard and fast. Remy is a dog that needs to be approached slowly. People have not always been kind to him and he is still nervous around new people. He is easily won over with treats and a gentle demeanor, but needs to come to you on his terms.

In his foster home, Remy LOVES playing with other small, younger dogs. He's also lived with large dogs and was indifferent to them. Remy generally ignores cats, preferring to follow the humans he loves and trusts. He is a sleep in the bed, go on vacation, be your best friend sort of companion.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: We were told that Remy is 2 years old, but have no records on his history. We celebrate his birthday as 05/10/2020.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
