Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Poodle (Standard) / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (long coat)
Weight: 65 lbs
Height: 24 in
Estimated Birthdate: 5/26/2021
Fence Needed: Yes
Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Reason for being in rescue: owner release
Special Needs: Storm is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Storm arrived in rescue with a cherry eye; it was repaired on June 9, 2022. We've been monitoring Storm's eye for a month now. It has significantly improved and he is ready for adoption.
What kind of home would be best for me: Storm is looking for a home with an active family to take him on adventures. He would enjoy a home with another large to to play with. Storm would absolutely have to be monitored closely in a home with cats or small dogs. Storm is just a large active dog and may overwhelm something significantly smaller than him. He would enjoy a home with children to love on him and play fetch with him. Storm needs a home to take him through basic obedience classes.
What is my personality like: Storm arrived in rescue through no fault of his own, sadly a victim of divorce. He landed at the shelter and Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from there. Storm is still very much a teenager. He's full of mischief and fun. Storm loves to play and run all day long. Storm loves other dogs his size, he is often caught engaging in a game of wrestle smack down. Storm is still learning manners. He's gotten much better about not jumping up on people.
Storm is a young dog that will benefit from positive reinforcement training. He is crate trained. He needs work with leashing and basic commands. He is smart and eager to please, just full of puppy energy that needs positive direction. Storm would also benefit from lick mats or other toys that keep his mind stimulated. This boy is no couch potato - he needs plenty of activity and exercise every day.
Storm is an all around happy young dog that loves humans.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly and Happy
Tips and Tidbits: Storm is estimated at 1 year old. We celebrate his birthday as 5/26/2021.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
