My Story

Date into Rescue: 6/11/2022

Reason for being in rescue: breeder release

Special Needs: Hailey had a dental, was spayed and is up to date on routine vaccinations and microchipped.  Her eyes were a little goopy from not having her hair trimmed regularly.  Now that she has good grooming, they look much better.

What kind of home would be best for me: Hailey is looking for a bichon lover who has experience bringing shy girls out of their shell. She has very little experience with our normal world.  She was raised in a small Amish kennel - no phones, no tv's, no cars - just livestock and other dogs.  She has a lot of potential to the person who has patience and kindness to offer her in large amounts.

What is my personality like? Hailey in bullet points : shy, good with dogs, loves food, very curious and wants to come to you but isn't ready yet, good in a crate - goes into one on her own, we do not put her in one, needs one on one attention from a loving human who she can give her whole heart to.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Hailey is a flight risk - she will run from you.  We use a towel to pick her up.  It calms her to have a towel over her and something soft between her and human hands.  In her home, she will need to wear a harness and leash for at least the first 30 days (and maybe longer) so you have a way to control her movements and keep her safe.  It's called tethering .

Tips and Tidbits:  Hailey's birthdate is 3/11/2019.  This is an excellent article on rehab for a dog likd Hailey.  Reading it will give you insights into what life will be like with her.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
