My Story

Date into Rescue: 6/25/2022

Reason for being in rescue: owner release

Special Needs: Mickey is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative.

What kind of home would be best for me: Mickey is a typical chihuahua - he loves hard and fast, he doesn't like to share his person, and he has a voice and isn't afraid to use it. We are looking for a home where someone is home during the day and wants a devoted lap dog. This could be in an apartment, condo or a single family home. Mickey wants to be the only dog, though he could live with cats. We haven't tested Mickey with kids, but suggest mature children that have grown up with dogs only. Mickey will be a great go-everywhere companion!

What is my personality like: Micky is a typical chihuahua with some anxieties. He attaches quickly to other dogs and humans and is looking for a person to bond with. This being said he will need a home where his owner is home most of the time if not all the time. He wants to be a spoiled little lap dog.

Mickey's leash walking isn't bad even though his paws probably won't touch the ground much. He loves his people and seeks consistent affection and reassurance as he isn't the most confident. He can coexist with another dog, just might have to be a specific dog. Living with another calm confident dog might help him, but he has been observed growling at other dogs in his efforts for attention, so these behaviors might continue as he gets comfortable in his new home. He has a voice that likes to be heard in typical chihuahua fashion. Mickey is clean in his crate.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Mickey is estimated at 4 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 6/25/2018.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
