My Story

Date into Rescue: 7/6/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Cookie was found as a stray in TN and landed at a shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled her from the shelter.

Special Needs: Cookie is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. We do not have documentation that Cookie is spayed, but a veterinary exam states she is believed to be spayed. Cookie will be adopted on a spay/neuter addendum.

What kind of home would be best for me: Cookie is looking for a home with another small to medium-sized dog that she can play with and learn from. She is high energy, but timid with new people and situations. Cookie will benefit from positive reinforcement training. We do not know if she has ever lived with cats or children. If children are over 10, very patient and experienced with dogs, Cookie's trust could be earned. Cookie needs plenty of exercise and lots of snuggles.

What is my personality like: Cookie is very timid, yet curious. She wants to love you so bad, but is scared. She just needs time to get to know you, and learn that she is in a safe place. She gives off puppy energy, and is always ready for playtime. Once you earn Cookie's trust, she will follow you to the ends of the Earth just be near you. She loves getting cuddles, but let her come to you to sit on your lap. Being picked up scares her still, so once initial trust is gained this will be something to work on with her positive reinforcement training.

Cookie is clean in a crate, and very food motivated. With a couple of treats, and plenty of time, this girl will fall in love. She does well with other dogs, and would do well in a home with another dog to show her things aren't so scary!! Cookie just wants a family to call her own.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Shy, but tends to warm up quickly when treats are involved. The best way to gain her affection is to let her come to you when she is ready, and do not force the interaction.

Tips and Tidbits: Cookie was found as a stray which means we have no history on her pre-rescue. Based on her overall health and condition, Cookie is estimated at 6 years old. We celebrate her birthday as 7/6/2016.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
