My Story

Date into Rescue: 7/9/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Mello was found as a stray and landed at a NC shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled her from the local shelter.

Special Needs: Mello is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Mello does not have a spay tattoo, but does have a spay scar. We declined exploratory surgery to confirm. Mello will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract. On 07/15/2022 she had a dental polishing.

What kind of home would be best for me: Mello is a calm and gentle dog. Her ideal home is as your only dog, but she can live with another small or large dog. Mello has not been tested with cats. Her ideal home is with someone that is home more than away. She's looking for a family that will take her on their travel adventures, let her sleep in the bed, and will make her to their best friend.

What is my personality like: Found as a stray, Mello has a demeanor that matches her name. Whatever life may have been previously, Mello has clearly known kindness from humans. She has a gentle spirit and a strong desire to be with her people and to give and receive love.

Mello is an all-around great girl. At only estimated 5-6 years old, she has a bit of an old soul. Mello knows some basic commands (sit and stay), she has good house manners in her foster home, she is good in the car, and she loves to enjoy just sitting with her human and receiving pets. Mello is living in a foster home with large and small dogs. She does not play with them, but happily coexists with them.

If you looking for a calm and sweet mid-sized companion, Mello would love to be your best pal!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Mello was found as a stray so we have no history on her. Based on her overall health and condition she is estimated at 5-6 years. We celebrate her birthday as 7/9/2016.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
