My Story

Date into Rescue: 07/13/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners

Special Needs: Stanley is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. On 7/18/22 Stanley had a dental polishing. He also had his ears professionally cleaned while under anesthesia.

What kind of home would be best for me: At 70 pounds, Stanley is a large standard poodle with a heart just as big. Life has been tough recently, and it's made Stanley shy in new situations. Give him 24 hours and he will give you his entire heart. Stanley is living in a foster home with another large dogs and many small dogs. He is great with all of them. He isn't overly interested in playing with other dogs and would be happy as the only dog. Stanley needs plenty of physical exercise and daily walks. He needs a strong owner to manage his physical size. Stanley has never lived with cats, but is indifferent to them in his foster home. He has never lived with children, but could live with gentle children over 10.

What is my personality like: Stanley is a young boy who's had a rough year. His family has really struggled, and in their struggle their dogs suffered. Extended family intervened and got the dogs into rescue so that they could find the right homes where they could thrive. Stanley arrived in rescue having lived outside for the last 6 months, matted to the bone, and somewhat fearful. A bath, groom, and medical care have been completed and he's now ready to find his forever home where he will be a beloved companion.

Stanley is a bit standoffish when he first meets people, but when he accepts you, he is your best friend. It is clear that Stanley was loved. He knows sit and stay. He is leash trained and loves to go for walks. He loves people and needs an active family. He’s a big fan of toys and playing fetch. He will literally play fetch for hours. Stanley is indifferent to other dogs, but we think it’s because he never had another dog to play with as he was kept outside most of his life.

Stanley has come a long way in such a short time in accepting people as not to be afraid of them.  Each day more of his sweet smiling personality comes out.  He enjoys being close to his family either sitting with them or on floor close to them.

Stanley is a big, gentle giant. He is going to really blossom in his forever home and make a wonderful companion!

How do I act when I first meet new people: A little shy, but friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Stanley is estimated at 5 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 04/28/2017

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
