My Story

Date into Rescue: 07/31/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Breeder Release

Special Needs: Josephine is a young puppy. She is up to date on vaccines for her age. Josephine is not spayed. She will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract which requires you to spay her at your cost and provide proof within 12 months.

What kind of home would be best for me: Josephine is a young, very active dog with limited life experience. Her forever home requires another large, younger dog for play and behavior modeling. She requires a home committed to positive reinforcement training. She'd love a home filled with adventures that she can participate in as she builds confidence. Josephine has never lived with cats or children, but would be fine with both. Josephine is going to be a bit of a project, but she has an eager heart and a happy personality that will serve her well on the journey!

What is my personality like: Josephine was surrendered by her breeder. She has lived her entire short life in a crate with very limited socialization or life experiences. She is most comfortable with other dogs and is still figuring out what human routines are all about.

Josephine has a wonderful, playful spirit. Her first time running on grass was an absolute joy to watch - it was sheer happiness. Josephine is young and active and very smart. She knows nothing about walking on a leash and will lay on the ground and roll when you attempt to walk her. She will learn, but needs practice and patience. Josephine had never been in a car prior to her freedom ride to rescue. She does get car sick and needs more experience riding in a car. In her foster home Josephine is also learning about house training, sleeping on a dog bed, and all things being a companion pet.

Josephine is great with dogs of all sizes (though a bit clumsy with smaller dogs). She is almost goofy in her play with other dogs. She needs positive reinforcement training and the experience of another dog to learn from. Josephine is young and happy and active and is going to make someone a great companion!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Shy but curious and friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Josephine's birthday is 01/09/2022

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
