My Story

Date into Rescue: 8/5/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Sally was found as a stray and landed at a shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled her from the shelter.

Special Needs: Sally is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative. Since arriving in rescue Sally has had a dental, mammary masses removed, and several cysts surgically removed. Sally is a senior girl. She has mature cataracts in both eyes and is vision impaired.

What kind of home would be best for me: If you're looking for a laid back couch potato, Sally is your girl.  She is also a foodie - and you have to watch her food and treats intake.  She doubled her body weight with us. She was far too thin when she arrived but she has made up for lost time.  Sally could be an only pet.  She would be ideal for someone who works from home and just wants company.  She does not need a fence - she’s not going far.  She is very quiet.  She would love maybe a porch or patio as she loves to go outside and sunbathe.

What is my personality like:  Laid back and just wants to hang out and watch the world go by.  Sally does not have much experience on a leash.  She is ok, just needs reminder of this skill. Sally isn't looking for long walks - short strolls are more her speed.

How do I act when I first meet new people:  I’m ok.  You're ok.  We’re all ok.  Not much gets Sally excited.  She likes people but sees no reason to make a big scene out of it.  Let’s just go hang out.

Tips and Tidbits: Sally was found as a stray so we have no history on her. Based on her overall health and condition she is estimated at 10+ years old. We celebrate her birthday as 08/01/2012.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
