My Story

Date into Rescue: 8/22/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Pepper was found as a stray by a caring citizen who reached out to rescue for help

Special Needs: Pepper is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.

What kind of home would be best for me: Pepper is looking for a high energy, yet patient, home. She is a shy girl in new environments, and will need time to decompress and adjust once she arrives in her new home. Pepper loves to play with her fur friends, and could benefit from having other dogs in the home she could learn from. She could also adjust to living life as the only fur child, but would need to take frequent dog park visits or attend doggy daycare for continued socialization. Pepper has never been around children that we are aware of, but could potentially be fine with older, more mature, children who are respectful of her boundaries. She does not like being randomly grabbed, and causes her to react negatively. If you need to get her, coaxing her to come to you with treats typically does the trick.

What is my personality like: Pepper may be shy, but once she warms up she is a playful ball of energy. She is great on car rides and walks well on her leash, which is perfect because she loves being taken on adventures. So far, she has really enjoyed going on runs and hiking through the woods. She has been testing the waters with swimming, the jury is still out if she will add it to her activities list though. At the end of her activity-filled day, she enjoys relaxing at your feet while chewing on her toys or bone. Although she will typically curl up at your feet, sometimes she forgets her size and goes for the lap. Just sit back and let her crawl up there, she gives some of the best cuddles around.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Pepper is shy around new people and situations. It takes her a little while to warm up. Let her have her space, and allow her to come to you on her terms. The time spent waiting is well spent!

Tips and Tidbits: Pepper was found as a stray so we have no history on her. Based on her overall health and condition she is estimated at 1 year old. We celebrate her birthday as 8/22/2021.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
