My Story

Date into Rescue: 8/11/22

Reason for being in rescue: Diva was found as a stray but is microchipped. Despite our best efforts (Facebook, phone calls, certified letter and regular letter mailed to the last known address), no one called us to reclaim the pretty little girl.  So..after 30 days of trying - we got lucky. She became ours!

Special Needs: Diva has had an interesting medical journey with us.  As a woman of a certain age, she has some age related issues going on. These include bilateral cataracts (which do not slow her down) and she had some weird lumps and bumps that we had removed (none were problematic, but a wart is a wart and has to go!).  On 08/23/22 Diva was evaluated for Cushings disease but we do not believe she has Cushing's. She has had her teeth cleaned and while a few may have fallen out along the way, she had a good cleaning but did not need any extractions. She also had her thyroid checked and it is low. We are waiting now on the type of medication she will be put on to help this condition. It is inexpensive - generally running about .25 cents per day.  For all this, she is cheery and happy.

What kind of home would be best for me: Diva diva diva D!  Diva girl is the kind of dog that a home will be lucky to get.  Despite her small size and in the happy chaos of her foster home, she thrives. We suspect in a quiet home she would thrive.  In an active home she will thrive - for Diva wants to be part of the action.  In a home with gentle kids, she would thrive for Diva likes everyone.  In an adult only home, Diva would thrive for Diva likes adults as well as kids.  In short - as long as Diva is loved she will thrive.  She makes the best of every situation she finds herself in and can't wait to see what happens next.

What is my personality like: Happy. Sweet. Affectionate. Quiet but alert - Diva is always in the middle of all we are doing. She loves loves loves dinner.  She loves loves loves tv time.  She loves loves loves walking outside with her family and she loves loves loves nap time, too.  Diva simply loves.  And loves.  And loves some more.

If you have in your heart to give a senior dog a home, you just can't go wrong with Diva.  She has that much love to give.  Her foster family is going to miss her very much but knows there is someone out there who needs her very, very much.

How do I act when I first meet new people: There are no new people - only people I have not met yet.

Tips and Tidbits: Because we do not know for sure, we gave Diva a birthdate of 8/22/2011.  We do know from the chip info that she is 11 years old so went with that near to the date she came in.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
