My Story

Date into Rescue: 10/1/2022

Reason for being in rescue: breeder release

Special Needs: Earnest is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.

What kind of home would be best for me: We are seeking a home with an experienced dog owner and someone who is home more than they're away. Earnest has spent this first part of his life as a breeder boy. He's helped make a few babies and is now ready to just relax for the rest of his life. Earnest has been sheltered for a long while now so new places and faces make him nervous but he is very curious. Everything is new for Earnest and you will teach him how to be a pet. He requires a home with another large, confident, calm dog to learn from and model behavior. He would be fine with cats. Earnest is going to take time and patience and consistency to be the best version of himself. The investment will absolutely be worth it!

What is my personality like: I am shy, nervous and a bit scared but ever so eager to get out of this shell. I want to share my love that is hiding inside of me. I want to learn tricks and show off. My furfriend needs to be on the mellow side because I can get overwhelmed with too much energy around me. I am sure I would be fine with cats in our home. I sure hope they're nice kitties!

I am learning what walking on a leash is like and not being scared and try to run away. I am crate trained but honestly I don't know much of anything else. I don't know what it's like to have a big bed to lay in for afternoon naps. I don't know what it's like to have my belly rubbed and my face smooched. I don't know what it means to have and share a home with a family but everyone I talk to tells me its great. I can't wait to experience this for myself!

Teaching a dog how to be a pet is the most rewarding experience. The joy of watching them snuggle in their first dog bed, go on their first adventure, and learn to seek out your affection is unmatched. Earnest has a gentle demeanor and an eager spirit. He's ready to learn with his forever family!

How do I act when I first meet new people: I like people. I'm learning they usually come with food and treats and they talk to me so sweet. I am a little shy and it does take me a minute to warm up and come over to say hello. Please don't hold this against me because I feel like with time and the right family I will be a very happy sweet fella.

Tips and Tidbits: Earnest's breeder stated he is 4.5 years old when surrendered. We celebrate his birthday as 5/3/2018/

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
