My Story

Date into Rescue: 10/15/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners

Special Needs: Bruno is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative

What kind of home would be best for me: Bruno is looking for a home where he can have what he had before - be king of the castle and owner of your heart.  While he is and can co-exist peacefully with other dogs, he prefers not to.  He's got enough love for all of you, you don't need anybody else. He also is like an engineer - things need to have a flow that is consistent and known and can be counted on.  'Bruno says, "I love structure and routine.  Let's go build a plan together and follow it."

What is my personality like: Bruno was the beloved companion of a single individual. Sadly, his owner passed way and family members were unable to care for him. He was surrendered to rescue to help him find the right forever home.

I am a forward and confident dog. I tend to be bossy with my space. I don't mind other dogs my size, preferably not smaller, around me that are submissive and compliant to my demands. I can live with cats that can live with me. I will play fetch for a minute but would rather lay in my bed chewing on a bone or toy. I know basic cues and walk nicely on a slip lead or head halter, but I sometimes like to talk big and loud to neighborhood dogs. If left unchecked, I can go into a tantrum and be loud and strong. Just tell me to keep walking and I will.

I like my people once I get to know you. I am respectful of your space and stay on the floor even when I am excited to see you. I'm fairly low to medium energy and do not require as much exercise but do enjoy car rides and going to new places. I am also crate trained. I eat and sleep in one and stay clean. I would enjoy us to spend as much time together, but I do understand you might have to leave me alone during the day. A fenced in yard would be preferred, I don't jump, but I do like to explore.

I am not overly affectionate. I don't lick and jump and climb all over my people. I like to be looked at and told how handsome I am. I am not food motivated no matter how good the treats smell and taste but I do like food when going into my create. Yes, I am crate and house trained, I know basic cues and have a fairly good recall.

How do I act when I first meet new people: I keep my distance, give a couple woofs and sniff to make sure your intentions are good. I'm cat like in this sense, I like to watch from a safe distance then give a hello. Once I've decided you're safe, I will proceed and introduce myself. I like head pats and good boys then I'll find a spot to relax and enjoy our company together.

Tips and Tidbits: 04/23/2017 is Bruno's birthdate.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
