My Story

Date into Rescue: 10/15/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Humphrey was found as a stray and landed at the shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter.

Special Needs: Humphrey is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Humphrey is deaf.

What kind of home would be best for me: Humphrey is looking for his person or persons. This boy loves big and with his entire heart. Our ideal home has someone home during the day so that he can get all the snuggles his heart desires. Humphrey will be happy as your only dog, or can live with other dogs. If he's ever lived with cats or children we don't know, but he has a gentle demeanor well suited for children over 10. Humphrey sleeps in the bed snuggled against his foster mom. If you aren't looking for a dog to sleep with you, he isn't your boy.

What is my personality like: Found as a stray, Humphrey earned his name based on his affection for all things he claims as his own. Neutering has helped tremendously with his overt displays of affection, but Humphrey quite simply wants a person.

Humphrey's foster mom describes him as the classic Velcro poodle. If you are sitting he wants to be in your lap. If you are standing, he is pressed against you. If you're walking and stop he may bump into you because he is following so closely behind. Wherever you are, he wants to be. Humphrey is good with dogs of all sizes. He rides well in the car. He is working on basic commands and leash manners in his foster home.

Humphrey is not house trained. In his foster home he wears belly bands and will be sent home with these. This is something his forever home will need to continue to work with him on. Though Humphrey is deaf, he has LOTS of love to give and share. It does not dull his enthusiasm for giving cuddles!

Humphrey is a lover looking for the family to give his heart to!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Humphrey was found as a stray so we have no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition we celebrate his birthday as 10/09/2012.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
