My Story

Date into Rescue: 10/3/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Breeder release from Georgia

Special Needs: Satin is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.

What kind of home would be best for me: Satin is looking for an experienced yet quite home. Satin requests that you have another confident and stable dog already. Satin is cat friendly so if you have a confident and dog oriented cat, that will also help Satin adjust to your home. Loud noises are stressful for Satin so young children may not be best for Satin, older more mature children would be fine for her. Satin wants a home who is willing to give her time to learn to be a pet. With time and love Satin will blossom into a wonderful happy golden retriever.

What is my personality like: Satin is a typical breeder-surrendered dogs - shy and unsure of her new world. A lot of things just changed for Satin all at once. Satin is learning a lot of things right now - she's learning about new people, leashes, couches, grass, but most importantly she's learning there is so much more to life than making puppies. Retired breeding dogs are always very unsure of this new world at first but time and time again, they have proved they are one of the most resilient dogs.

Satin has began to show interest in her foster mom, she often greets her at the door with a very happy golden retriever dance. Satin walks decent on leash, sometimes she needs to stop and take a break to observe her surroundings and make sure she is safe. She has shown than she wants to be the true golden girl she is meant to be, all she needs is time.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Shy at first but with time and treats she will warm up.

Tips and Tidbits: Satin's breeder stated she was 4.5 years old at time of surrender. We celebrate her birthday a 6/12/2018.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
