Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Poodle (Toy) (medium coat)
Weight: 11 lbs
Height: 12 in
Estimated Birthdate: 10/20/2012
Fence Needed: No
Location: Foster Home in Rocky Mount, NC
Reason for being in rescue: Henry was found as a stray and landed at a NC shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter.
Special Needs: Henry is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Henry had a dental on 11/11/2022 and lost 12 teeth, 9 of which were incisors. Henry will need routine dental care for the remainder of his life.
What kind of home would be best for me: Henry is a calm and gentle gentleman looking for a lap to call his own. He will be happy as your only dog or living with other dogs and cats. If Henry has ever lived with children we do not have history, but he has a demeanor well suited for children over 10. Henry would be okay with you working outside the home as long as you come home for breaks. He isn't a girl that wants to go to doggy daycare or dog parks - his heart will belong to you. Henry's ideal home is with a family home more than they are away that wants a snuggle companion. He'd be the perfect companion for active retirees.
What is my personality like: Whatever Henry's life was before he was found wandering the street, he was shown love. This gentle and loving boy wants nothing more than to be your best friend and constant companion. Henry lives in a foster home with other dogs of all sizes. He is fine with all of his canine foster siblings, preferring the company of his foster mom over other dogs.
Henry walks okay on a leash, though needs continued work. He rides well in the car. He does not know any commands, but is so eager to please and would be a good candidate for training. Henry is working on house training in his foster home and will need continued focus and consistency in his forever home. Henry is a snuggle in your lap, sleep in the bed sort of boy that wants nothing more than to be your best friend!
How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly
Tips and Tidbits: Henry was found as a stray so we have no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition we estimate him at 10 years. We celebrate his birthday as 10/20/2012.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
