My Story

Date into Rescue: 10/28/2022

Reason for being in rescue: stray

Special Needs: Albie is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. He will be neutered on 11/10/22 and ready for his forever home by 11/12/22.

What kind of home would be best for me: Albie needs a lap or a dog bed of his own where he can just chill. He enjoys being around his people. He likes his yard and being outside for a while, therefore he is asking for a fenced in area if he can get one. He could live with other dogs big or little that are ok with a spunky little man running around. He prefers the type that are laid back and allow him to be top dog on the hill. He is also ok with cats that are dog savvy. Albie would enjoy being walked around the neighborhood once in a while. He is learning how to walk better without pulling, and this training should be continued in his  new home. Albie would fit into a home with kids that understand dogs space, he could also be with an elder person or couple and he would do alright teaching new dog parents dog skills. Albie loves all adventures on foot or by car. Sometimes he does get excited and loud in the car, but he just can't help it.

What is my personality like: Albie is a four year old Pomeranian Chihuahua mix was who found as a stray by a local shelter. He is slow to warm up to us, we can only imagine the life he had lived before us. Once he trusts you he is comfortable around you, but still independent. Maybe in a home environment, that would change but for now he is definitely okay not being your typical “Velcro dog”. With that being said, Albie is still as sweet as candy,  just not the most physically affectionate boy ever.

Albie enjoys the company of his fellow four legged friends. He would be his happiest self in a home with another small to medium sized dog to keep him company, or even a feline friend! He isn’t the biggest fan of dogs bigger than him. Albie could be a great family dog with older, mature children. Albie doesn’t know many commands but has huge potential when it comes to training - he will accept food or praise as his rewards!

Albie is usually pretty mellow, calm and ready to lounge around. Your typical couch potato. We do know that deep down, there is a young spunky dog ready to come out of that shell and do a million zoomies. He is just still learning his environment. Albie would love to be your daily walking companion, morning, noon or night. Albie will thrive in a calm environment, as minimal traffic and commotion as possible as he can tend to get nervous with a lot going on.

Albie is ready to be your calm, loving boy!

How do I act when I first meet new people: A little aloof, but friendly.

Tips and Tidbits: Albie was found as a stray so we have no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 4 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 10/28/2018.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
